Do you hate writing gradients in CSS? You need Gradient. It turns this usually tedious task into something very enjoyable and outputs fully cross-browser CSS. Use the built-in color picker or input your own colors. Toggle between radial or linear gradients. RGB, HEX, HSL. There are a ton of options.

Currently you can only make two color gradients, but the’re already working on multi-step gradients, SASS output, and more.

Apple Reports First Quarter Results

Apple Inc. reported its best quarter ever for revenue, earnings and iPhone sales as the consumer electronics giant benefited from the release of its latest smartphone and continued strong demand for its popular tablet.

Shares of the Cupertino, Calif., consumer electronics giant, already trading near all-time highs, added 7.8% to $453.02 in after-hours trading, as results surpassed even the most optimistic analyst on Wall Street.

The company’s total revenue of $46.33 billion for its fiscal first quarter, up 73% from a year ago, means that Apple reported more revenue in the final three months of last year than in all …

Scriptogr.am is a tool for hosting a blog through Dropbox. Funny I stumbled upon this as I was building this blog because it uses the same technology that I’m using for this blog. It uses Jekyll as it’s backend to put everything together and each post is a Markdown file in your Dropbox folder.

Super Crate Box

This is awesome, Super Crate Box is finally out for iOS. This is my current addiction. It’s simple, fast-paced, action-packed fun.

The mechanics are very simple; Monsters fall from the top and run down a path to fall to their death in the firey pits below. You have to avoid touching them and collect as many crates as you can. Each crate contains one of many different weapons such as the rocket launcher, laser rifle, revolver, disk gun (Make sure you jump out of the way when it bounces back).

The art is classic, colorful pixel art, which looks beautiful on the retina display of the iPhone. Gameplay is smooth and the controls are very responsive, which is essential for a lightning fast game like this.

It’s 99¢ in the App Store, buy it!

Gimmebar

	.

Gimmebar is a slick new service by the folks at FictiveKin. It’s a new bookmarking service that saves almost anything you find on the web. That’s right, it saves all your images and even syncs to Dropbox.

Once you install the Chrome extension and find something you want to save, just hit ‘g’ and the bar pops up. You can then drag images to “Public” or “Private” and it’ll save to your account.

You can save images, videos, entire web pages, text. It even does a pretty good job of recognizing content, like articles, recipes, and status updates.

One great feature they added after launch is Backups. You can connect services to Gimmebar to automatically add content to Gimmebar. For example, if you connect your Instagram account, every picture you’ve taken and every photo you’ve liked will be added to it’s own private collection in Gimmebar.

I use Gimmebar every day, it’s become essential for bookmarking beautiful images or websites, take a look at my ”Beautiful Websites” collection. I’m very excited to see what’s to come with this service, there are so many great possibilities and they’re off to a great start.

Path

If you use the internet, you may have heard of Path before.

In their own words, Path is “The smart journal that helps you share life with the ones you love.” The emphasis is on intimate sharing. Originally, Path was limited to 50 friends so the user would have to choose carefully who they wanted to share with.

This friend limit is based on the concept of Dunbar’s Number, which is “theoretical cognitive limit to the number of people with whom one can maintain stable social relationships.” This number is thought to be between 100 and 200. I’m looking at you with over 500 Facebook friends! However, due to the feedback Path received, they have since raised that limit to 150 friends.

Version 2.0 was released in December with much praise to it’s UI. And what a beautiful UI it is. Almost everything is animated, even tiny details like the clock with hands that turn as you scroll up or down a path, or the way the sharing menu flies out with each icon spinning into place.

I would really love to see this app takeoff, I think it’s a great idea and it’s a joy to use. The only problem is that I only know one person personally who uses it. Trying to convince people to try something new is an impossible task.

Path is available for the iPhone & Android.

I just came across these bold, angular illustrations by Jonathan Puckey, an Amsterdam based graphic designer.

The Delaunay Raster is an original graphical process I invented in 2008, to create abstracted versions of images using the Delaunay Triangulation, color averaging and hand assisted placement of points.

It’s a very creative mixture of programming and art.
